Description: Soil geochemical surveys provide valuable insights for locating critical minerals underground due to the connection between soil and the underlying rock. However, these datasets are often challenging to explore because of their large number of samples collected, and the many elemental concentrations that can be analyzed for. We develop GeoChemNet, a tool designed to help scientists interrogate, visualize, and understand their complex geochemical data. GeoChemNet offers several advantages: it does not rely on linear combinations, allowing it to preserve non-linear relationships; it highlights geochemical behavior in outliers; users do not need to select a subset of elements, leading to better representing the full multidimensionality of the dataset; and the tool’s visualizations integrate geochemical relationships with geospatial maps. GeoChemNet serves as a powerful communication and discovery software for data scientists, geologists, geochemists, and mineral explorers working to uncover geological insights from geochemical datasets.
